The essence of the Film 1st team is a combination of youth and experience, dynamism and caution; a cocktail of energy, desire, talent and ambition. The principals of Film 1st have industry connections on both sides of the Atlantic with projects in development in Europe and the US. Creatively driven by Daniel Fitzsimmons and Neil Atkinson with prudent management by Jim Fitzsimmons and his team of experienced professionals in the areas of law, finance and compliance.
The company was founded in 2009 out of a desire to give creative talent the vehicle in which to flourish. Our experience of the industry is that 'getting it made' for the first time Writer/Director is at times the most difficult element in the Film/TV creation process. Daniel & Neil faced those obstacles and decided to take control of the situation. As a result their first feature film will be shot in 2011. From the success of this early independent production grew the desire and drive to 'make it happen' for others. Film 1st was born.
Film 1st exists to produce film and TV of integrity, quality and originality. Its scope has no boundaries. Our focus ensures that that each and every project will be considered and developed on sound financial principles and will be managed so that the interests of the investors are at the forefront of the management process. It is intended that all projects carried out by Film 1st Limited will be approved by HMR&C as an EIS company for the production of film and TV. This status means that those who chose to invest in Film 1st projects can benefit from the most tax efficient investment vehicle available.
This combination of knowledge and energy is part of a burgeoning ethos, a desire to spread wings that means Film 1st is committed to the finest young talent wherever it comes from and finding the right experience to help develop that talent into something that can add to the wider creative economy.
We believe passionately that given our collective attributes, we can balance creative exploration with value for investors and that one doesn't stand in opposition to the other. Investors want to have a stake in significant films, in ambitious films. We know that kudos is something more than financial and we are prepared to find and demonstrate that value in any of our projects.
Film 1st is already expanding beyond Liverpool into Los Angeles and London; its Liverpool essence is an important thing, but there's no point having roots if you aren't going to have branches.
